Creme Colors by Ben Nye

The question is not what can you do with Ben Nye Creme Colors - the question is what can you not do with these pigmented little creme pots?
Traditionally, creme colors like this were called "Creme Liners." Old school lingo (hence the CL designation in Ben Nye item codes.) It may have been to separate the color cremes from skin tone cremes in an old-timers makeup kit.
Creme liner or creme colors, whatever you want to call them, open up a basic creme formula for a multitude of uses.
Usually used in character makeup - these colors can also be used for cheek, lip and eye color or counteractive color theory.
Ben Nye's extra rich formula is the perfect vehicle for mixing and blending. Use your Color Wheel to buy a few basic colors and mix your own secondary colors to save money.
Use your primary colors (red, yellow, blue) to cheat your creme foundations to a perfect skin tone match. If you have a foundation that is just a tad to pink - add a smidge of yellow and you get a perfect hit.
Use creme liners as a base for your eye shadows or other powder products to double up on color and long lasting wear.
Especially fun is to use a pink creme color as an eye shadow "primer" and layer over with a Ben Nye Lumiere Powder such as Cosmic Violet. Not only will you create an exciting bright eye color - it will wear all night (be sure to really press your Lumiere powder through to the creme for better adherence.)
This is also fun to do with matte color. One favorite is Creme Color Grey with Ben Nye's Graphite Eye Shadow on top. (Remember to press through) Now you're double up'ed in color!
White can be used to tint eyebrow hair in and hair around the face such as temples in an old age makeup (be sure to powder set with colorless powder).
When you get to cosplay, theatre or special fx, the uses are endless. Change your skin tone to become a blue alien or a vampire. Create a classic old age makeup or for SPFX create realistic pain, contusions, cuts, and bruises. Creme colors work in many ways! They are so fun and useful it's hard not to have at least a small assortment in your makeup collection.
